Senior Day at the Coffee County Fair

The air is getting a little cooler and the leaves are slowly starting to fall... Just kidding! Most days are still reaching highs in the upper 80's and even lower 90's! But it is mid-September, which means that it's time for some fun at the Coffee County Fair! Cotton candy, caramel apples, and funnel cakes are signature trademarks of the fair for many, but there is one other tradition that Unity Medical Center was very excited to take part in. Each day of the fair has a different "theme". Wednesday was "Senior Day", a day with entertainment for senior citizens, including dancing and clogging, demonstrations by the Manchester Recreation Center classes, door prizes, and a cake walk. This year we partnered with the Manchester Recreation Center to sponsor the Senior Citizens cake walk. Unity Medical Center employees were asked to bring in their choice of cakes, cookies, brownies, and pies to be used as prizes in the cakewalk. We were amazed at how many employees participated and brought in goodies! We had approximately 65 items, which was more than double what was requested by the people organizing the event! Since the cakes and pies were plentiful, we were actually able to do two cake walks and every participating senior citizen left with a prize!
